POSTOPERATIVE HEPATITIS IN PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

Abstract
Postoperative hepatitis was not common disease. Although the cause of it was still controversy, contributing factors were supposed hepatotoxic agents, hypoxia, preexisting liver disease, malnutrition and viral hepatitis.

We had experience the postoperative hepatitis at 5 patients, 4 patients were facial bone fracture, 1 patient was skin defect.

Clinical features were as follows;

1. Clinical manifestations were nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, general weakness.

2. The most characteristic feature was delayed fever pattern. On the 7-10th postoperative day, sudden night fever (over 39¡É) was developed.

3. Simultaneously marked impairment of liver function tests were noted.

After careful medical treatment, they were discharged with symptomatic improvement and nearly normal liver function tests.
